I love this shoe rack, its super sturdy, and strong comapred to the other ones I got! This is definitely a practical, utilitarian piece of furniture, just not something that you'd want out for all to see. One part came broken, but not in a way that kept me from putting it together and still being of use. I keep two stacked in a closet as storage and they work just fine.I read the reviews and was concerned about this being sturdy. I wanted somewhere for my husband to put his work dress shoes. He likes to rotate between 3-5 pairs and usually leaves them throughout the house. I bought this with the idea that if we move it would fold up and not take up much space on a moving truck or if I wanted to tuck it away somewhere for whatever reason. I agree that it does not feel the most stable, however it is as stable as it can be for a shoe rack that gets folded up. Once you put the shelves in it feels just a sturdy as many other shoe racks. This was super easy to put together and only took me about 15 minutes. It also looks very nice in my entry way. I am very pleased that I purchased this shoe rack.I would have given it 5 stars except for where one of the wooden dolls is placed. My husband's shoes stick out, but mine fit fine on the 2nd from the top shelf.I purchased my shoe rack in 2009 and still own it 11 years and 3 cities later. The product is extremely durable, sturdy, and made of high-quality materials. It is easy to set up, move, and clean. It is aesthetically pleasing enough for use in an open area, yet nicely compact to save space or for additional closet storage. Cost-wise, however, it is rather on the higher end of my humble budget as compared against similar products, thus the one-star reduction.I bought this attractive wooden shoe rack because I needed the additional size of it's shelves. My old shoe rack was of similar dimension but made of flimsy wire material and could not accommodate three pair of my size 12 EEE wide mens shoes sitting side by side on each of it's four shelves. It could only handle 2-1/2 pair of shoes per shelf, awkward and inefficient to say the least. This much nicer shoe rack can accommodate 3 pair of my shoes per shelf but just barely. Still, this shoe rack is well made, assembles easily enough with minimal hardware (none missing) and is reasonably stable situated against the closet wall. The design of this shoe rack is stackable but I suspect a second unit should be fastened to the wall in addition to attachment to the lower unit if enhanced stability is desired. That minor issue is certainly no biggie if you are reasonably handy with household tools. All in all, I believe this solidly constructed shoe rack is a good value and I recommend installing one in your closet or mud room.I have another Winsome wood piece that is collapsible, so I am familiar with putting foldable things together. Yes it is shaky while putting it together because you are trying to make sure it fits together properly, but once the screws are tight it stands just fine. A brief tap with a hammer made the dowels fit for ones that stuck out too far, and I did tap the screw covers in with a hammer. I currently have 13 assorted pairs of shoes and sandals on it. I am going to put a smaller try on the top shelf to use it for my winter boots, and get a larger tray to put under it to catch any dirt.I'm happy with it, and all my bookshelves etc. are foldable or collapsible so that if I move they go flat and pack easily. I would not hesitate to buy another Winsome wood item, I own 2 now, and they are good enough quality at a very reasonable price for me.If you want something sturdier, by a shoe rack that doesn't fold up!There are no surprises with this item. It is exactly as described. It was very simple to put together and is very sturdy. I have an aversion to shoes in my house, so I placed this shoe rack right inside my door. It is really a good-looking piece. In fact, I placed a plant on top, which works out perfectly. It makes for a great landing spot (of course, with the use of a bowl or a dish) for your personal items like your keys, change, phone, watch, etc. It looks really good while serving its purpose. I am seriously considering buying another. This shoe rack does what its supposed to do - It holds shoes - and unlike most racks - the shoes cant fall through! Each shelf can easily fit three pairs side by side. Each shelf is tall enough to accomodate a shoe box or high tops. If you need extra height for boots, just leave off a shelf.I stacked two of these together using the hardware included. They dont stack together with precision (which is why I didnt give 5 stars) but theyre secure enough for me, and the base is wide enough that theyre not going to topple over. But this is NOT for a young child. It looks too much like something to climb at a playground. Its definitely not going to stand up to any little climbers.I also like that the racks are not splintery.Nice quality and well made. It probably deserves 5 stars only if they made the distance between shelves at least no less than "7 inches. Otherwise, it's okay for low and medium profile shoes. BTW, anyone with a working brain, common sense and usable pair of hands can figure out how to assemble this product.Solide, en bois naturel indémodable, se marie très bien à plusieurs décor. J'aime le fait qu'on peut en emplier plusieurs, car je compte déjà en acheter un second. C'est très pratique quand on manque d'espace pour le rangement!Easy to assemble and looks good next to my front door.Good item!
